Using attributes, filters and campaigns, a custom program can be applied to an entire network dispersing site targeted content. Creating these items frees the content administrator of having to build multiple programs within the network. This would be applied to a network with a medium to large number of sites with strict site targeted content.
Follow these steps to create a site targeted content program:
- Create an attribute. Apply a specific description or distinction to a site. For example, if we a network made of zoos and aquariums some content may go to both, or some content may be site specific. Let's create site attribute that will label whether a site is a zoo or not. Refer to the Creating Attributes solution to create this Boolean attribute.
2. Once complete, choose a site to apply the attribute and apply yes/or no from the Boolean.
3. Next, let's set up a site filter that can group these sites together. Go to the sites tab, click the blue filter icon resembling a funnel. Click the Manage button to create a filter that will group all zoo sites together.
4. Once the zoo filter is created, apply the specifics. In the match area, pick the name of the attribute and the specific category we are targeting, which is a zoo. The equal sign and check box below is telling us that the filter will apply and display any zoos that ARE marked yes. Click save.
5. Test your filter by choosing it in the dropdown area. The sites whose attributes were marked "Yes" will appear in the results list when choosing the zoo filter.
The same attribute set theory can also be applied within the Content tab. Content can be oganized and filtered in the same exact manner to group similar content together.
6. Now that these two sites are labeled as "Zoo" locations via the attribute set, we can target content directly to those players/sites using Campaigns. Begin by creating a campaign - Adding a Campaign Widget. Create a campaign and apply a tag, in this case zoo is our tag.
7. Go to the campaigns tab and build the campaign. Create a new campaign by clicking the green plus sign under the sub tab campaigns. Name the campaign, set a date duration and apply the tag we create in the program content tab in Step 6. Refer to the Building a Campaign solution for a detailed step by step process of the creation campaign from start to finish.
8. Next, choose where you want content go to. This is where we place our filtered sites as the location. So when this campaign is added to a program in a network, only these sites will play the specified content selected in Step 3 within the campaign designer.
9. Choose what you want to play at the zoo sites from the direct selection or filter selection of content. As previously mentioned, a filter can be applied to content as well as sites, so in Step 3 of the Campaign designer you have the option to choose a files specifically or in groups through content filters.
10. Click the next button through the Step 4 and 5. Review the campaign details. Lastly, place the campaign track we create in the program content folder into a program. Refer to the Creating and Editing Programs to add your zoo campaign track. Once this program is playing at all sites within a network, the zoo content we selected within the campaign will only play at the specific zoo filter we created and placed within Step 2, "Where" within the campaign designer.
