For EnGage to monitor or control a screen, it must support RS-232 control with appropriate query commands. This option is usually only available on commercial grade panels.  Each display manufacturer will have a different set of control codes for managing and controlling the panel functionality. Panel manufacturers may even have different control codes for their various model lines. EnGage has built in support (control codes) for many popular panel manufacturers.

If the exact model of your screen is not found in this list, a different model from the same brand could still work. Testing is required.

In EnGage's Management tab, create a new Screen Settings assignment .

Select the model of screen being used, which will define the control codes for the screen.

Set the Screen Control mechanism to "Direct (Serial / USB)" to enable RS-232 control.

Select a Control Port depending on how the serial cable is connected to the EnGage player (Serial or USB adapter)

Control Method will be set to "ID" for many screens, but some screens use "Broadcast" instead. Consult your screen manufacturer specs to confirm.

Publish this Screen Settings assignment to your media player.

Connect the null modem serial cable from the EnGage player to your screen. Some model screens have both IN and OUT ports for RS-232, so ensure that the cable is connected to the IN port. If the media player doesn't have a serial port, a USB-to-Serial adapter can be used.

Power on your screen, ensure that RS-232 is enabled within the screen's OSD menu, and lastly power on the media player.

Allow the player a few minutes to connect and download the new Screen Settings assignment.

The Site Overview page will display Panel ON or Panel OFF depending on the state of the panel. An error indicates that the player is failing to communicate with the screen for some reason. This can be determined by following the RS-232 troubleshooting checklist.
